Morphological Interference between Indonesian and Javanese Language within Utterance of Kindergaten at DIY

ABSTRACT

Generally, the kindergarten children at DIY are bilinguals. Within their utterance, one can find of linguistic elements of two languages, i.e. Indonesian and Javanese languages (IL and JL). This phenomenon is categorized as interference. Of the interference forms, it is the interference on morphological aspects that is interesting to be investigated. This article is made to describe that form of morphological interference.

The data are taken from 10 kindergartens all over DIY, through the speech method, simak bebas libat cakap technique, and, as the extended technique, recording. The data gotten are, then, transcribed orthographically. To analyze the data, the method used is padan translational and agih with substitution technique.

As the result, the research shows that morphological interference founded are of affixation, i.e. (1) the usage IL affixes {meN-}, {meN-/-kan}, {di-}, {-kan}, {-nya}, on JL basic forms; (2) the usage of JL affixes, as {ke-en}, {-e/-ne}, on IL basic forms; (3) the usage of IL-JL hybrid affixes, namely {N-/-kan} and {meN-/-i} on IL basic forms.
